Amber Boothby, a senior at Scotts Valley High in California, won the girls varsity small school race at the 43rd ASICS Clovis Cross Country Invitational by clocking 18:05.7 on the 5-kilometer layout at Woodward Park in Fresno, Calif. Boothby helped Scotts Valley take third with 158 points, which didn't include junior sister Ashlyn Boothby in the lineup, as she placed seventh in the Bill Buettner girls championship race in 17:44.3.
